Tribute to John Walker

আমার নাম আল-রাজী অনন্য, "রবার্ট বার্নস" নামেই আমি বেশি পরিচিত। ২০১৮ সাল থেকে আমি দেশলাই এবং লেবেল সংগ্রহ করছি। বর্তমানে আমার সংগ্রহে প্রায় ৯০০০ দেশলাই এবং ১২০০০ এরও বেশি দেশলাই লেবেল রয়েছে। ২০১৯ থেকে "বাংলাদেশে ম্যাচবক্স কালেক্টরস ক্লাব (বিএমসিসি)" র সাথে যুক্ত হই। বর্তমানে আমি বিএমসিসির যুগ্ম সাধারণ সম্পাদক হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করছি। দেশলাই আবিষ্কার করেছিলেন ব্রিটিশ রসায়নবিদ এবং আবিষ্কারক জন ওয়াকার ১৮২৬ সালে। জন ওয়াকার জন্মগ্রহণ করেছিলেন ১৭৮৯ সালের ২৯ মে। এবছর তাঁর ২৪২তম জন্মদিন উপলক্ষে তাঁর প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা জানিয়ে বিএমসিসি একটি ভার্চুয়াল প্রদর্শনীর আয়োজন করছে। জন ওয়াকারের প্রতি আমার শ্রদ্ধার্ঘ্য হিসেবে প্রদর্শনীতে তুলে ধরলাম আমার সংগ্রহে থাকা কিছু সুইডিশ দেশলাই লেবেল এবং ভারতীয় দেশলাই। 

My name is Al-Razee Anonnya. I'm much familiar with the name "Robert Burns". I collect matchboxes from. March, 2018. Right now I have around 9000 different matchboxes and over 12000 different matchbox labels. In Bangladesh, there is an international organization for matchbox collectors. "Bangladesh Matchbox Collectors' Club (BMCC)" is it's name. I became a member of the club in 2019 and right now I am working as the Joint General Secretary there. Matchbox was invented by British inventor and chemist John Walker in 1826. John Walker was born on 29 May,1789. This year, in commemoration of his 242th birthday, BMCC has organised a virtual matchbox and labels exhibition. As a tribute to the great inventor, I exhibit some Swedish matchbox labels and Indian matchboxes from my collection.

A set of matchboxes

All the boxes depict a camel on front but different types of fishes on back. The name of the factory which produced the set is written on front underneath the camel. Different proverbs are written on back with pictures of different fishes and there is no manufacturing date on the back.
